The Under 9 Hornet Girls competed in Aurora on September 18/19, finishing the tournament with an impressive 5-0-0 record, while surrendering only one goal in those 5 games. The girls went undefeated with a 1-0 win against East Gwillumbury with a goal from Jade Vyfhuis; a 1-0 win against Ajax with a goal from Sasha Kharlamov; a 6-1 win against Whitby with goals by Heather Sheldon, Kate Whetham (2), Lianne Austria, Rebecca Bartkiw, and Adriana Mangos; and a 1-0 win against Aurora with a goal from Adriana Mangos. The girls faced the tough Ajax team in the Sunday afternoon final – it was an exciting game with end-to-end action with Rachel Cory scoring the lone goal late in the first half. The second half saw the Hornets play strong positional soccer with a team first approach to secure the win. On behalf of C. Michael Isaacs, AC.
