The Under 9 Girls Hornets All-Star team, coached by Michael Isaacs and Jason Sheldon, competed in Georgetown on July 17/18, finishing the tournament with a 2-1-1 record. The girls went undefeated on Saturday – and did not surrender a goal – with a first game 0-0 tie against Mississauga Croatia (eventual tournament winners); a 2-0 win against the Burlington Hyperstripes with goals by Rachel Cory and Madeleine Marion; and a 1-0 win against the Georgetown Mustangs with a goal by Adriana Mangos. The girls faced the tough Mississauga Croatia team in the Sunday morning final. It was end-to-end action with plenty of scoring chances by both teams, but in the end it was Mississauga squeaking out a 2-1 victory, with the Hornets goal being scored by Adriana Mangos.
