Winter Olympics Congratulations to the Canadian Olympic Athletes
A spectacular performance with 14 gold medals and 26 overall: the most gold ever by a host country, most gold ever by any country in the Winter Olympics, third overall in the total medal count and maybe the greatest national celebration that Canada has ever seen. Way to go Canada!

On a cool Thanksgiving at the Soccer Centre in Vaughan, the Markham Men played PEI in the final for the second year in a row. Markham scored twice in the first half. PEI came back early in the second half and scored one. There were a number of additional chances but the game ended as a 2 - 1 victory for Markham. A casualty was captain Richard Alexander who suffered a fractured leg in the first play. He is now wearing a cast but already thinking about next year's Nationals.
Meanwhile, in Sydney, under adverse weather conditions, the MSC U14's took on a powerful Alberta team from Edmonton. In the preliminary round (of 3 games) and the semi-final, the Alberta team scored an amazing 41 goals with only 1 against. In the final game, the Markham team held them to a scoreless draw at the end of regular time and again by the end of the overtime periods. In the shoot-out, Alberta scored on 4 kicks while Markham scored on 2.
